According to an Ipsos-Reid survey, of the 80 per cent of Canadian adults that have a credit card, 77 per cent have at least one type of reward card. In the past year, several new card offers have come onto the market. The latest, from BMO Bank of Montreal's Mosaik MasterCard, garnered country-wide attention when it partnered with WestJet Inc. to introduce a Gold WestJet 1/$15 AIR MILES Reward Option. While this card has always let you choose between AIR MILES or CashBack Rewards, this newest option allows cardholders to fly WestJet Inc. anywhere in Canada for up to half the usual number of AIR MILES reward miles with no travel blackout periods. "Cardholders can fly even sooner when they "double dip" by collecting additional reward miles and bonus miles on purchases at participating AIR MILES sponsors," said Mike Kitchen, Vice President, Retail Cardholder Products and Marketing, BMO Bank of Montreal. "For example, with our newest reward option, if you were to also regularly buy gas and groceries from participating AIR MILES sponsors and spend $1,200 a month, you could earn a WestJet flight anywhere in Canada in just one year."
